San Diego Dentists who are Friendly and Knowledgeable
Our doctors utilize advanced dental technology to ensure accurate, efficient and minimally invasive treatment. Here is a list of some of the equipment they use:
Diode laser for precise, comfortable treatment
A diode laser very precisely removes soft tissue (such as the gums) and bone tissue. The doctors use it in gum disease treatment to decontaminate infected gum pockets and to remove diseased gum tissue. It is also sometimes used for gum recontouring, or to remove the decayed part of a tooth when treating a cavity.
Waterlase dental laser for gentle care
The Waterlase dental laser serves as a comfortable alternative to drills in the treatment of cavities. It uses a laser in combination with water spray to precisely cut tooth, gum or bone tissue efficiently and without heat. Our doctors use it for treating tooth cavities, for implant procedures, and for gum recontouring. When used for treating cavities, the Waterlase dental laser often eliminates the need for anesthesia.
Cone beam CT scanner for precise planning
A cone beam CT scanner produces 360º 3D X-rays of the mouth, jaws and teeth. Our doctors use it to plan complex procedures such as the placement of dental implants.
3D implant planning software and surgical guides
Using special 3D implant planning software, the doctors will direct the creation of a surgical guide that is placed over the gums, like a template, to precisely guide your implants into the correct position at the right angle.
Digital X-rays
Digital X-ray machines emit about 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays, and they produce more accurate images faster.
Digital panoramic X-rays
Panoramic two-dimensional X-rays capture the entire mouth and jaw in clear detail in a single image. The doctors use these images to evaluate the condition of your teeth, as well as to plan certain procedures.
Intraoral camera
An intraoral camera takes pictures of the inside of the mouth to help the doctors see any issues with the teeth and gum tissues that may not show up in X-rays. It is used in exams and for cosmetic procedures.
CEREC® machine for one-visit veneers or crowns
CEREC®, which stands for CEramic REConstruction, uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/manufacturing) technology to create custom porcelain crowns and veneers right in our office during a single visit. The doctor will take digital impressions of your teeth and design your restoration on the CEREC design unit. Your restoration is then milled using the CEREC milling unit while you wait, and you will walk out of our office with your final restoration in place, eliminating the need for any temporaries.
Digital cameras
We use digital cameras to take pictures of patients’ smiles for the planning of cosmetic treatment.
Electric implant handpiece
Our doctors use a state-of-the-art electric handpiece for placing implants with greater efficiency and precision compared to traditional dental drills. The result is a quieter, faster and more comfortable experience.
Air abrasion unit
This instrument works like a mini-sandblaster, spraying a fine stream of particles. The doctors use it for removing cement from crowns or orthodontic brackets. Air abrasion is a minimally invasive, efficient alternative to drilling, and it can be performed without anesthetics.
Ultrasonic scaler
An ultrasonic scaler uses sound waves to break up bacterial deposits and remove plaque and tartar from the teeth. This device is used in regular teeth cleanings and for the treatment of gum disease in deep cleanings. It is a more comfortable alternative to traditional hand scalers.
Dental microscope for accurate root canal treatment
Our endodontist (root canal specialist) uses a dental microscope to handle complex root canal procedures. It allows him to closely view details that cannot be seen in an X-ray for extremely precise treatment.
Rotary instruments for comfortable root canal treatment
These electric instruments are used to shape and clean the canal in root canal therapy. They are more precise and efficient than traditional hand files.
Surgical loupes
Our doctors use high-tech surgical loupes to see closely into the mouth during procedures.
Accurate cancer screening system
Oral cancer, when treated early, is one of the most treatable diseases with a success rate of 90 percent. We use the highly accurate, easy and quick Vizilite oral cancer screening system. You’ll rinse your mouth with a special solution, then the doctor will darken the room and examine your mouth for tissue abnormalities using special light technology. Problem areas will glow fluorescently.
Articulators
This is a bite simulator device. The doctor will mount a plaster study model of your mouth onto the articulator to ensure that your planned new smile is correctly aligned and the chewing system functions properly.
