San Diego Dentists who are Friendly and Knowledgeable
We welcome children
A lifetime of good oral health begins at an early age. We treat patients as young as two years old. Our doctors focus on making children feel comfortable in the dental chair and giving them a positive experience at the dentist.
Our friendly office staff and doctors love working with kids. Children find our office very welcoming. We will bring your child into our staff lounge, where we have coloring books and stay well-stocked with goodies such as cookies and hot cocoa. Our treasure chest filled with toys is very popular with little ones!
We offer full dental services for children, including fluoride treatments, sealants, baby root canals, baby crowns and cleaning services.
Your child’s first visit
We welcome you to bring your child into the office as early as the age of two, when all the baby teeth have come in. In the first visits, the doctor will focus on creating positive experiences, so that later on, your child will feel comfortable receiving treatment.
During your child’s first visit, the doctor will do a light visual exam—and perhaps a gentle cleaning too if your child feels comfortable enough. The doctors usually have younger children (between the ages of two and five years old) sit on their parent’s lap during the exam.
Children should return to our office every six months to a year so they can become fully comfortable with the dentist.
Our gentle services for children
Our team of doctors and specialists deliver comprehensive dental services, which means your child can receive virtually any dental treatment in our office.
Here are some of the services we offer for children:
Gentle cleanings
Taking good care of your teeth with regular cleanings from an early age builds a strong foundation for lifelong oral health. We have exceptionally skilled and friendly hygienists. They keep children comfortable while gently cleaning their teeth. Your child’s hygienist will provide helpful home care tips.
Dental sealants
Sealants are an effective, cost-effective way to prevent cavities in children’s teeth. In this procedure, the doctor applies a thin layer of plastic-like material over the grooves and pits on their teeth. The sealant acts as a protective layer to prevent tooth decay.
Tooth-colored, metal-free fillings
To treat cavities, we offer tooth-colored fillings, which are considered a healthier and more aesthetic alternative to metal fillings.
Orthodontics for a beautiful, healthy smile
Straightening your child’s teeth not only gives them a confidence boost, but it also can help protect them from oral health issues such as gum disease, tooth decay and TMJ (jaw joint) issues.
Dr. Justene and Dr. Tran are highly trained and very experienced in orthodontics. They treat teens whose adult teeth have come in, usually between 12 and 14 years old. Our orthodontics options also include traditional braces.
One of the benefits of choosing our office for your child’s braces is that your child can conveniently receive their regular cleanings and exams at the same time as they come in for orthodontic treatment.
